Glenn Mott

Glenn Mott, is a poet, journalist, and publisher. He is author of Analects on a Chinese Screen, a book of poetry set against China’s rise to globalization, and Eclogues on a Mustard Seed forthcoming from Turtle Point Press. From 2008-9 he was a Fulbright Scholar in China, and has worked as a China-based editor and foreign correspondent. He has held visiting lectureships at universities in Shanghai, Beijing, and Hong Kong. He received a Kathryn Davis Fellowship for Peace from Middlebury College. Books edited include Paul Laurence Dunbar’s Selected Poems, and with Yunte Huang, The Big Red Book: An Anthology of Modern Chinese Poetry for W. W. Norton. He is the publisher of Polymorph Editions, a press focused on translations of Asian writers. Polymorph fine press editions are housed in the collections of numerous libraries, including Oxford University’s Bodleian Library, Harvard Poetry Room, and the Beinecke Library at Yale. He lives in New York City.

ERASMUS IN THE MORNING

Across the horizon
are days . . .
I THINK
After you, I’ll give up everything.
SOMETIMES
I’ll wish to look without talking.
ADMIT
Impediment.
I BUY ANYTHING
Where nothing more is added to my name.
WONDER
Will this fit with how I get my living?
THE KNOWN
is a kind of foreground of wonder
THE ORIENTATION
to know wants to organize.
IN THE UNKNOWN
is no obstruction.
TO BE
What is recognized into being.

牧歌(一)

早晨的伊拉斯马斯

地平线尽头
是白天
我认为
追随你,我将放弃一切。
